Been to California…
Yep, it’s true. I’ve been indulging in the delights of sunshine and delicious produce like heirloom tomatoes and avocados. Since it’s the middle of winter here and summer there, I couldn’t stop eating salad in the first two days. It’s just made me all the more impatient in waiting for our season to begin.
I also tasted a whole lot of fruit. The tasting stations are so generous at the farmer’s markets over there that you can go early without having had breakfast yet. And that’s saying a lot if you know me.
And I further indulged in something I wish we had over here, Mexican and Tex-Mex food. Well, OK, we sort of have a bit of Tex-Mex…but it’s not the saaaaame! I mean, where are the free tortilla chips and the giant margaritas?
And, lest I seem ungrateful for all the awesome stuff we do have here in Aotearoa, here is a photo of the only (most were “barn raised” at this particular shop, anyway) free range eggs I could find in Wholefoods supermarket. Ready? Wait for iiiiiiiiiiiiit…
I know! They are from New Zealand!! How weird is that?

Yes! Think of us poor souls as you down that limey goodness.
I am so glad you enjoyed your visit! I’m going to order a giant Margarita with a new appreciation now.
Lots of free range eggs in the USA. Pricey, but worth it just to see the smile on the chickens’ beaks.
Welcome back – if only briefly – to the US of A.
Congrats to your brother and his bride. I wish them many happy years together.

I know, crazy! Yes, they do have free-range eggs. I don’t know if Wholefoods carries them or not but you can buy them in lots of places, including the prolific farmer’s markets.
Wow! I would never had guessed our eggs made it that far. Is that to say they don’t do freerange eggs in the US? Mind boggling.
